Volunteer with Burnley Leisure

Are you looking to volunteer some of your time? Burnley Leisure & Culture is a not-for-profit, registered charity tasked with improving health, wellbeing, fitness and culture within the borough of Burnley.  We work in partnership with lots of organisations including Burnley Council to deliver award winning facilities and schemes including stroke and cardiac rehabilitation, swimming lessons for children, education programmes in schools and food and nutrition workshops in the community.

Any time spent volunteering with BLC helps improve peoples lives and our towns facilities.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone from the age of 15 upwards, the sky is the limit.

We welcome all help when it comes to making our venues and services a success and have a range of volunteer opportunities, some of which are listed below:

Boathouse Cafe Volunteer Assistants

To help with serving coffee, ice cream and ensuring our customers have a memorable experience.  This is a fast paced role requiring you to be able to work at speed in a busy environment.

Boating Lake Volunteer Assistants

To help on the boat deck, assisting customers in and out of boats, delivering health and safety advice and ensuring our customers have a memorable experience.  This volunteering role requires you to be physically fit and able to bend, stretch and stand for long periods.

Mechanics Theatre Front of House Volunteer Assistants

If you have a love for theatre and live events, this is the role for you, meeting and greeting customers, helping sell ice cream and refreshments and ensuring our customers have a memorable experience, whilst enjoying seeing some of the fantastic performances we host.

Do you get paid to be a volunteer?

Our volunteer roles are unpaid, you are providing your time free of charge to help support Burnley Leisure & Culture and your community.  However, we do provide a daily volunteer expenses payment to provide support getting to and from the venue you are volunteering at and also for any drinks or refreshments you need throughout the day.  More information on this expense’s payment can be provided when you enquire about opportunities.

Are there other Burnley Leisure & Culture volunteer benefits?

Yes of course, we provide training as part of our volunteer programme, this could include water safety, food hygiene, first aid, fire warden and manual handling, you will receive an official qualification that you can use elsewhere if you need.
